“… where shall wisdom be found? and where is the place of understanding?”
(The Book of Job 28:12)
Why attend this church?
Like other Christian Science churches, our church facilitates each one’s direct connection with God.
“Jesus established in the Christian era the precedent for all Christianity, theology, and healing. Christians are under as direct orders now, as they were then, to be Christlike, to possess the Christ-spirit, to follow the Christ-example, and to heal the sick as well as the sinning. It is easier for Christianity to cast out sickness than sin, for the sick are more willing to part with pain than are sinners to give up the sinful, so-called pleasure of the senses. The Christian can prove this to-day as readily as it was proved centuries ago.” (Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures, Mary Baker Eddy)
Our attendees spiritually support each other’s pursuit of living in the spirit of Christ. Our church does not have a band and choir. We have and organ and piano and a soloist who leads the congregation during our hymns. We have no church sponsored social events. Our attendees occasionally gather to have ice cream or lunch or to sing Christmas songs at someone’s home. Our church is focused only on gaining an understanding of our Father-Mother God through studying the Bible, following the teachings of Christ Jesus as explained by the founder of Christian Science, Mary Baker Eddy, and finding the path to health and harmony in daily life.

Christian Scientists
Believe
Christian Scientists are emphatically Christian.
In 1879, Mary Baker Eddy, the Discoverer of Christian Science, founded the Church of Christ, Scientist. Her purpose was to establish a church designed, “to commemorate the word and works of our Master, which should reinstate primitive Christianity and its lost element of healing.” (Manual of The Mother Church, Mary Baker Eddy) For more information about Mrs. Eddy, click here. For a deep read about her, click here.
Our church is of one of the branches of The Mother Church, The First Church of Christ, Scientist, in Boston, Massachusetts. Join us here in Roseville on Sundays and Wednesdays. There is Sunday School for students up to the age of twenty which begins at the same time as the Sunday church service.
Christian Scientists believe in one, infinite God who is all and all-good. God is not distant and unknowable. Instead, we believe He is all-encompassing and always present and that each individual is loved by God, cared for by Him, and made in His image — spiritual, not material.
Christian Scientists believe in the Bible and in Christ Jesus as the Son of God, or promised Messiah. And we believe that Jesus’ teachings and healing work expressed scientific Christianity, or the application of the laws of God — laws which are still practical and provable today, by anyone, anywhere. Christian Scientists consider the Commandments, as well as Jesus’ Sermon on the Mount, to be central to their lives and the practice of Christianity.
Above all, Christian Scientists believe in the healing power of God’s love, that no one is beyond redemption, and no problem is too entrenched or overwhelming to be resolved. In other words, Christian Scientists do not believe that salvation occurs at some point in the future, but that the presence of God’s goodness can be experienced here and now — and by everyone.
Mary Baker Eddy defined God as “The great I AM; the all-knowing, all-seeing, all-acting, all-wise, all-loving, and eternal; Principle; Mind; Soul; Spirit; Life; Truth; Love; all substance; intelligence.” (Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures)
Christian Scientist are instructed to pray each day: “‘Thy kingdom come;’ let the reign of divine Truth, Life, and Love be established in me, and rule out of me all sin; and may Thy Word enrich the affections of all mankind, and govern them!” (Manual of The Mother Church)
Mary Baker Eddy did provide a few tenets—or key points—that briefly summarize the teachings of Christian Science. They are rooted in the Bible.
Tenets of Christian Science
1. As adherents of Truth, we take the inspired Word of the Bible as our sufficient guide to eternal Life.
2. We acknowledge and adore one supreme and infinite God. We acknowledge His Son, one Christ; the Holy Ghost or divine Comforter; and man in God’s image and likeness.
3. We acknowledge God’s forgiveness of sin in the destruction of sin and the spiritual understanding that casts out evil as unreal. But the belief in sin is punished so long as the belief lasts.
4. We acknowledge Jesus’ atonement as the evidence of divine, efficacious Love, unfolding man’s unity with God through Christ Jesus the Way-shower; and we acknowledge that man is saved through Christ, through Truth, Life, and Love as demonstrated by the Galilean Prophet in healing the sick and overcoming sin and death.
5. We acknowledge that the crucifixion of Jesus and his resurrection served to uplift faith to understand eternal Life, even the allness of Soul, Spirit, and the nothingness of matter.
6. And we solemnly promise to watch, and pray for that Mind to be in us which was also in Christ Jesus; to do unto others as we would have them do unto us; and to be merciful, just, and pure.

Reading Room
A bookstore, a quiet study room, and a lending library!A community bookstore and a center for the exploration of spirituality, prayer, and healing.
In our Master’s Sermon on the Mount, we read, “When thou prayest, enter into thy closet, and when thou has shut thy door, pray to thy Father which is in secret, and thy Father which seeth in secret shall reward thee openly.” Our Reading Room provides a peaceful place to fulfil this command.
