CHRISTIAN SCIENCE SOCIAL GROUP
DiscoveryBound
DiscoveryBound Northern California Adult Chapter has a year-round program for recreation and service open to adult Christian Scientists, friends of all faiths, and occasionally children as appropriate. Outings are enjoyed in a spirit of Christian Science, free of swearing, drugs, alcohol, and tobacco. Activities are led by coordinators who are volunteers, fellow participants familiar with the particular event. Brief descriptions of the activities are on the annual event calendar to enable a person to know if it is appropriate for themselves and their children. Contact information and copies of these calendars are available at this church and may be also available at other Christian Science churches in Northern California.
This year’s scheduled events are: Codfish Falls Trail hike in the Colfax area, Miner’s Ravine in Roseville, hike at Morgan Territory Regional Preserve near Livermore, Limantour Beach walk to Sculptured Beach in Point Reyes National Seashore, Andrew Brewis concert and CS lecture a South Lake Tahoe, Mt. Tamalpais steep ravine hike, American River walk, dinner at Chicago Fire Pizza in Roseville, caving at Moaning Cavern in the Sierras east of Angels Camp, a visit to Aerospace Museum at McClellan Air Base, Folsom Thai Restaurant, a visit to Sacramento Zoo, a hike in Cronin Ranch in the foothills, a visit to Mokelumne River Hatchery in Clements, walk around Nevada City for their Victorian Christmas, and next January, a hike in Sobrante Ridge Regional Preserve to see unobstructed views across San Pablo Bay.
Participants must be fully responsible for any children they bring to any event. Participants are responsible for their own needs like water, lunch, and protective clothing for hikes. Participants are to RSVP to coordinators and some participants meet at designated sites for carpooling when trips are out of the area. Contact information is available at our church and may be also available at other Christian Science churches in Northern California.
The national DiscoveryBound organization also offers inspiring recreational, leadership and service opportunities across the country for all ages and interests, as well as fun and inspiring virtual events. To learn more, visit www.DiscoveryBound.org
